Located in Northern Ecuador, Punta Tonchique is a decent left-hand point break that offers some good rippable sections, even though it can be a bit sectiony. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 150 metres (492 feet) over a reef and sand-covered bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Tonchique?
Punta Tonchique gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and then a shortboard and a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the southeast. The best swells are from the northwest and west. Punta Tonchique works on all tides.
