Located in Northern Ecuador, Punta Galera is a pretty good left-hand point break that offers slower but fun sections for manoeuvres. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 150 metres (492 feet) over a reef and sand bottom. Hard access keeps crowds down.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Galera?
Punta Galera gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the southeast. The best swells are from the northwest and west. Punta Galera works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 25°C (77°F) and 27°C (81°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
