Located in Northern Ecuador, Bocana del Cojimies is a pretty good beach break that offers up some rippable lefts and rights. The waves are a couple of kilometers offshore and require a boat to reach. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over sandbars.
What are the best surf conditions for Bocana del Cojimies?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller, then a shortboard, and then a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 27°C and 25°C (81°F to 77°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
