Located in Northern Ecuador, Estero del Platano is a quality stretch of beach break that offers barreling sections. The waves here break for up to 50 metres (164 feet) over a rock and sand bottom and are challenging due to the steep and fast nature of the wave.
What are the best surf conditions for Estero del Platano?
Estero del Platano gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the southeast. The best swells are from the northwest and west. Estero del Platano works on all tides.
