Located in San Luis Obispo, California, Leffingwell Landing is a quality right-hand reef set-up that offers up a good performance wall when the right swell hits. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 200 meters over a rock bottom. This wave can section a bit, but when good is really fun. Watch out for big sharks and rock boils.
What are the best surf conditions for Leffingwell Landing?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest and big. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 15 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 12 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
