This beach gets good between waist-high and triple overhead (although difficult to paddle out at size). We recommend a longboard for when it’s small and a shortboard for when the swell picks up. Sand Dollar Beach will have something on tap for all levels of surfer. The surf is consistent (7/10) and will be crowded on weekends and holidays (6/10). The best winds come from the East. A swell from the West, North, South, or anything in between will work. The best tides are on the higher end.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 15 degrees in August. In the winter when water temperatures fall to 12 degrees we recommend a 5/4. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
