Located in San Luis Obispo County, California, Exotics is a fun left-hand reef set-up that offers up a speedy little barrel on the rare occasions it breaks. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 200 meters over a rocky bottom. Found in the North end of Cambria.
What are the best surf conditions for Exotics?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if small and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here almost never breaks (2/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on a high tide only.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 15 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 12 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
