Located in San Luis Obispo County, California, Arroyo Laguna is an alright beach break that offers up some zippy peaks when the conditions line up, although it often closes out. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand and rock bottom. Popular with elephant seals, don’t offend them.
What are the best surf conditions for Arroyo Laguna?
Gets good between chest-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer depending on the size. This break is not consistent (2/10) and might have a crew when it’s on (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South or Southwest. Works on a low to mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 15 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 12 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
