Located in Guayas and Manabi, Ecuador, Playas is a quality right-hand reef break that offers up long, powerful waves with high-performance potential. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 150 meters (492 feet) over a rock bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Playas?
Gets good between head high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on a mid to low-tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 27°C and 25°C (81°F to 77°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
