Located in Guayas and Manabi, Ecuador, El Pelado is a quality right-hand reef break that offers up powerful and punishing walls when the conditions line up. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 200 meters (656 feet) over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for El Pelado?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and then a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat inconsistent (4/10) and will get busy on weekends and holidays (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest and punchy. Works on a mid to low-tide best.
