Located in Guayas and Manabi, Murcielago (Manta) is a fun beach break that packs a bit of a punch with hollow waves breaking up and down the sand. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom. The waves will be packed with local bodyboarders.
What are the best surf conditions for Murcielago?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has a wave to ride (5/10) and will get very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 27°C and 25°C (81°F to 77°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
