Located in Guayas and Manabi, Ecuador, Chocolatera is a quality right-hand reef break that offers up rippable walls when the conditions line up. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Chocolatera?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is not super consistent (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 27°C and 25°C (81°F to 77°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
