Located in Central Baja, Mexico, Punta Cono is an excellent right-hand point break that serves up ultra-rippable and barreling walls for those willing to make the trek. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 200 meters over a rock bottom. This, like many other Baja spots, is quite remote. Take what you need and don’t get hurt.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Cono?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the Northwest or West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 20 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 15 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
