Located in Central Baja, Mexico, Punta Blanca is another quality right-hand point break that serves up great rippable walls. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock bottom. It’s remote and will require a very good 4WD.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Blanca?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 20 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 15 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
