Located in Central Baja, Mexico, Punta San Jose is a fun collection of reef breaks and a point that are mostly rights, serving up some rippable sections when the conditions line up. The waves here are not the easiest to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta San Jose?
Gets good between chest-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will be very crowded on holiday weekends (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 20 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best as water temperatures plunge to 15 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
