Located on the Big Island of Hawaii, Pololu Valley is a fun, offshore reef break that offers up some powerful and steep peaks both lefts and rights. The waves here require skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Pololu Valley?
Gets good between chest-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will be uncrowded most of the time (4/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the Northeast. Works on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 27 ad 24. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
