Located on the Big Island of Hawaii, Kohala Lighthouse is an excellent reef break that offers up powerful and at times barreling lefts and rights. The waves here are generally heavy and break for up to 200 meters over a rock reef.
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is good for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally have a crew (6/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the Northwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
