Located on Long Island in New York, Georgia is a fun jetty-fueled break that peels across well-formed sandbars. The waves here are pretty straightforward to surf, breaking for up to 100 meters serving up barrels when good.
What are the best surf conditions for Georgia?
Gets good from waist-high to triple overhead. We recommend a longboard here when small and a shortboard when the swell arrives. Georgia is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers due to the speed and steepness of the wave. The surf here usually has a wave, (5/10) and can get insanely crowded in the summer (9/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a bikini or board shorts in the summer when the water temperature rises to 23 degrees. In the winter when the temps plunge to 4 degrees, a 5/4 with a hood, booties, and gloves is necessary. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
