Located in Long Island, New York, Main Beach is a fun beachy that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here can be tricky at times and break for up to 100 meters providing epic barrels when good. A permit is required to park here in the summer.
What are the best surf conditions for Main Beach?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard on smaller days and a shortboard when bigger. This beach can accommodate all levels of surfers depending on the swell. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and it is easy to score uncrowded waves (4/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the East or Southeast. Works on all tides depending on the bars.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 23 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 with hood, booties, and gloves is necessary in the 4-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
