Located in Long Island, New York, Cooper’s Beach is a mediocre beach break that rolls over a sand bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 150 meters providing fun sections for turns and hacks.
What are the best surf conditions for Cooper’s Beach?
Gets good from chest high to overhead. We recommend riding your standard shortboard here, but a longboard will work when smaller. Coopers Beach will accommodate all levels of surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and you can score some uncrowded waves here (4/10). The best winds are offshore from the North. The best swells are from the Southeast. Works best on a mid-tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 23 degrees. In the winter we recommend wearing a 5/4 in the 4-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
