Located on Long Island, Cupsogue is a fun beach break that rolls over sand. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing great sections for manoeuvres.
What are the best surf conditions for Cupsogue?
‘Gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding your longboard when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. The waves here are good for all levels of surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and can get ridiculously crowded in summer (9/10). The best winds are offshore from the North. The best swells come from the East, South, Southeast, and Southwest. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 23 degrees. In winter we recommend wearing a 5/4 in the 4-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
