Located in the Gulf Coast of Texas, Horace Caldwell Pier is a fun pier setup that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here are straightforward to surf and break for up to 150 meters providing some great sections for manoeuvres. Locals are nice here, lineups are chill.
What are the best surf conditions for Horace Caldwell Pier?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here most days and a shortboard if the size really steps up. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and generally uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East, South, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 30 degrees. In winter a 3/2 is best when water temps drop to 17 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
