Located in Texas, JP Luby Surf Park is a wave that breaks over an old broken pier and a sandbar formed around it. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing some easy-going longboarding sections.
What are the best surf conditions for JP Luby State Park?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here every day. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and the water is generally uncrowded (3/10). The beach itself can become party central over spring breaks. Offshore winds from the Northwest. Best swells are from the East, Northeast, South, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 30 degrees. In winter a 3/2 is best when the water temperatures drop to 17 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
