Located Galveston Island in Texas, Flagship Pier is a fun pier break that peels over well-defined sand bars. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters providing some fun sections for manoeuvres or cruising.
What are the best surf conditions for Flagship?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here most days and a shortboard when the size arrives. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here sometimes has a wave (5/10) and is usually quite crowded (7/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East, South, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 30 degrees. In winter a 3/2 is best when the water temperatures drop to 17 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
