Located in West Ventura County, San Buenaventura State Beach is a fun beach break that offers up some rippable lefts and rights on summer mornings. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over sandbars that owe their formation to the series of jetties along the beach.
What are the best surf conditions for San Buenaventura State Beach?
Gets good between waist-high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will get somewhat busy at times (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South or Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 here in the summer when water temps climb to 18 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
