Located in West Ventura County, McGrath State Beach to Oxnard Shores is a decent stretch of beach break that offers some peaky barrels when the conditions line up. The waves here can be a bit heavy and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. Sandbar rises up quickly leading to jacking up waves. Picks up summer swells better than any other spot in the area.

Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here and then a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South or Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
