Located in Minho-Douro, Portugal, Vila do Conde is a fun left reef break that offers a short and hollow ride. The waves here are difficult to surf at times and break for up to 50 meters over a rocky bottom. Attracts crowds.
What are the best surf conditions for Vila do Conde?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here when smaller and a step up if the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will always be way too crowded (9/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 18 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temps drop to 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
