Located in Minho-Douro, Portugal, Esposende is not a bad beach break that offers up some easygoing sections for longboarding or beginners. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Esposende?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead, but does not handle size very well. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will usually be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 18 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
