Located in Minho-Douro, Portugal, Afife is a fun beach break that offers up good barreling surf that has been compared to Supertubos in the South. The waves here are pretty heavy and break for up to 100 meters over a shallow sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Afife?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step up here as the size increases. This break is suitable to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and there will be a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 18 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
