Located in Minho-Douro, Portugal. Azurara is an average beach break that offers up performance waves when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. There will be spongers on the shore break. This is the first spot north of Porto with clean water.
What are the best surf conditions for Azurara?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (6/10) and will usually have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 18 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
