Located in the Rivas Province, Nicaragua, Playa Maderas is a quality stretch of beach break that offers up some great, rippable peaks when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty straightforward to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. This spot has become quite popular with both locals and tourists seeking the beach culture as well as the good year-round waves. Also not uncommon for some barreling peaks.
What are the best surf conditions for Playa Maderas?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will get insanely crowded (9/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 29 and 27 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
