More on Playa Santana (Playa Jiquelite)

Located in the Rivas Province of Nicaragua, Playa Santana (Playa Jiquelite) is a quality beach break with a couple of setups that break over a rock and sand bottom. Most of the surfing is done towards the south of the beach, as a lava shelf refracts swell and creates some very peaky waves. As you head north, the river mouth helps feed the sandbars and makes for some fun waves even at the most northern point of the beach. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 150 meters (492 feet) over a rock and sand bottom.

What are the best surf conditions for Playa Santana?

Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend a longboard when smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. More...
