Located in Rivas Province, Nicaragua, Playa Colorado is a fun reef break that offers up both lefts and rights along with big barrels. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Playa Colorado?
Gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard, fish, shortboard, or a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will sometimes get busy (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on a mid to high-tide incoming best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 29 and 27 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
