Located in the Rivas Province, Nicaragua, Masachapa is a fun right-hand reef break that offers up some good high-performance walls when the conditions line up. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock and sand bottom. Check out the nearby pier as well.
What are the best surf conditions for Masachapa?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is not consistent (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Northeast but prefer glassy conditions. The best swells are from the South or Southwest but need to be big. Works on a low tide only.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 29 and 27 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
