Located in Limon, Costa Rica, Salsa Brava is an excellent right-hand reef known for throwing out powerful massive barrels. There are two distinct sections, but be ready for crowds and beatings. The waves here a dangerous for most and will break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Salsa Brava?
Gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up to rhino chaser when bigger. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will get insanely crowded (9/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round. Water temperatures range between 29 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
