Located in Limon, Costa Rica, Roca Alta is an excellent right reef break that offers up some serious barrels. The waves here are challenging and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Roca Alta?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step when it gets bigger. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, and Southeast. Works on all tides but lower tides are sketchy.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round. Water temperatures range between 29 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
