Located in Northwest Puerto Rico, Leeward Islands, Margara is an excellent reef break that offers up some heavy, spitting barrels both left and right when the conditions line up, nicknamed Puerto Rico’s Pipeline. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a reef bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Margara?
Gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the South, Southeast, and Southwest. The best swells are from the North and Northwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 29 and 26. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
