Located in Northwest Puerto Rico, Leeward Islands, Dunes is a fun series of reef breaks that offer fewer crowds than the Rincon area. The waves here are not all easy to surf and offer some high-performance options sections for up to 100 meters over coral reefs.
What are the best surf conditions for Dunes?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if small and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. The break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the Northeast and North. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 29 and 26. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
