Located on the Garden Route in South Africa, Jongensfontein is a fun right-hand point that works best in small conditions, offering up fun sections for maneuvers and longboarders alike. The waves here can be difficult to surf and break for up to 300 meters (984 feet) over a rock bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Jongensfontein?
It gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if small and a shortboard if the size picks up. This break is good for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is super consistent (9/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the North and Northwest. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. It works best on a mid to low-tide.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in summer when water temperatures rise to 20°C (68°F). In the winter, a 3/2 might be best as temps drop to about 17°C (63°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
