Located on the Garden Route, South Africa, Inner Pool is a fun little right-hand reef break that offers up a weaker, longboardy wave when the swell pushes into the inner reef rocks. The waves here are not always easy to surf and break for up to 200 meters (656 ft) over a rock bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Inner Pool?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard if it really picks up. This break is good for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the north. The best swells are from the south and southwest. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in summer when water temperatures rise to 20°C (68°F). In the winter, a 3/2 might be best as temps drop to about 17°C (62.6°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
