Located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, Belmar is a fun pier break that unloads over a sand bottom, stretching from 3rd Ave to 19th Ave. The waves here are challenging and powerful, breaking for up to 100 meters serving up barreling sections.
What are the best surf conditions for Belmar?
Gets good around the overhead mark. A longboard will work here when smaller but a shortboard is best when bigger. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here hardly ever breaks (2/10) and might get a bit busy when it does (5/10). The best winds come from the West. It needs a pretty straight on East swell to work. Best on a mid to low tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 23 degrees. In winter a 5/4 with a hood, booties, and gloves is necessary when the water temps drop to 4 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
