Located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, Spring Lake is a fun beachbreak that provides some good, hollow tubes when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty straightforward to surf and break for up to 150 meters over a smooth sand bottom. Can be very crowded with tourists in the summer. The sandbar can get insanely shallow at times, so watch out.
What are the best surf conditions for Spring Lake?
Gets good from head high to triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10), ultra crowded in summer (10/10) and empty in winter (4/10). The best winds are from the West, and the best swells are from the Northeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 23 degrees. In winter a 5/4 with a hood, booties, and gloves is necessary when the water temps drop to 4 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
