Located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, Monmouth Beach is a decent beachy that breaks over sand (with a large drainage pipe in there, watch out!). The waves here are pretty straightforward to surf and break for up to 150 meters, providing excellent sections to tear into. More rights than left. The vibe here is generally pretty good
What are the best surf conditions for Monmouth Beach?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers, although beginners should be careful on bigger days. The surf here is pretty consistent (7/10) and sometimes a bit crowded (7/10). The best winds are from the Southwest and West. The best swells come from the East, South, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 23 degrees. In winter a 5/4 with a hood, booties, and gloves is necessary when the water temps drop to 4 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
