Located in New Jersey, The Wedge (not the famous one) is a fun wedging wave that peels off of a jetty. The waves here are bowly and steep, breaking for up to 100 meters providing some great sections for turns and hacks as well as the occasional barrel.
What are the best surf conditions for The Wedge?
Gets good from head high to double overhead. We recommend a longboard for here when small but a shortboard when it gets good. The Wedge is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and can get very crowded (9/10). The best winds are offshore from the West. The best swells from the Northeast. Works best on a mid to low tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 23 degrees. In winter we recommend wearing a 5/4 in the 4-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
