Located in Rhode Island, Monahan’s dock is an excellent reef setup that breaks over a boulder covered bottom. This wave is heavy, and the take-off is right in front of a harbour entrance. The wave breaks for 100 meters and barrels hard for the full length of the ride.
What are the best surf conditions for Monahan’s Dock?
Gets good from overhead to triple overhead, holds size very well. We recommend riding a shortboard most days here and a step up when the size picks up more. This break is best suited to advanced tube riders only. The surf here sometimes breaks well (4/10) and always has a frothing pack on it, don’t tread on toes (7/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells are from the East, South, and Southeast. Works best on a low tide.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temps rise to 21 degrees. In winter we recommend wearing a 5/4 when the water temperatures drop to 1 degree. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
