Located in Rhode Island, Greenhill is a fun beach break with a sand bottom. The waves here require a bit of surf skill to ride and break short and fast for 50 meters throwing out some cold, thick barrels.
What are the best surf conditions for Greenhill?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size steps up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer depending on the size. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and is generally uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northwest or West. The best swells are from the East, South, and Southeast. Works best on mid to low tides.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21 degrees. In winter the water temperatures drop to 1 degree necessitating a 5/4. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
