Located in Rhode Island, Scarborough State Beach is a half-decent beachie that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters providing some great sections for manoeuvres. Works best on peaky swells, it will be better somewhere else but less crowded here.
What are the best surf conditions for Scarborough State Beach?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. A longboard will work here most days and a shortboard will work when the size arrives. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and is generally uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells are from the South and Southeast. Works on mid to high tides.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21 degrees. In winter the water temperatures drop to 1 degree necessitating a 5/4. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
