Located in Sonoma County in Northern California, Secrets (don’t worry it’s a well-known spot) is a fun, lefthand point break that breakss over a rock bottom. Some waves here can be a bit challenging and offer a decent amount of power. They break for about 100 meters providing some great sections for turns and carves. It is in Horseshoe Cove at the northern end of Salt Point State Park.
What are the best surf conditions for Secrets?
This spots gets good between head high and double overhead. A longboard will work if you make the drop, but a shortboard is probably preferred. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers due to the at times shallow rock bottom. The surf here is not very consistent (4/10) and will be crowded when it is good (6/10). The best winds are offshore from the South. The best swells are big and from the West or Northwest. Better at lower tides.
We recommend a 5/4 year round here. Water temperatures rise to a chilly 13 degrees in September before dropping back down to a frigid 11 degrees in winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
