Right toward the northern edge of Sonoma County in Northern California lies Black Point Beach. Black Point is a decent beach break that crashes over a sand bottom. The waves here are heavy and thick, usually breaking for about 100 meters serving up hollow sections for barrels.
What are the best surf conditions for Black Point Beach?
Gets good between chest high and triple overhead. We recommend a longboard if it is small and a shortboard or step up when the swell arrives. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and crowds will never be a factor (3/10). The best winds are offshore from the Southwest. The best swells are small to medium-sized and clean from the Northwest, West, or Southwest. It will work on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 here year-round. Water temperatures rise to around 13 degrees in September and drop to around 11 degrees during the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
