Located in Sonoma County in Northern California, Dillon Beach is a mediocre beach break that crashes over sand. The waves here are straightforward to surf and break for up to 50 meters providing great sections for turns and carves. This spot is sharky, ask any fisherman in the area and they will have a story about a deep-sea encounter at the Shark Pit: a notorious deep water drop off about a 1/2 mile from the beach. The name is self-explanatory.
What are the best surf conditions for Dillon Beach?
The banks usually get good between chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard or shortboard here depending on the size. Dillon beach can have something for all levels of surfers. The whitewater is great for beginners on higher tides. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will have a local crew on it when it’s breaking well (6/10). But don’t worry there is plenty of space for everyone. The best winds for Dillon beach are straight East. The best tides are generally on the higher side, and the best swells come from the West.
